They were both busy with their individual commitments. But when they met, they added a lot of their own lines to the written script. Shah Rukh and Kapil are very comfortable with one another, and there was a lot of give-and-take, and Kapil was allowed to make fun of Shah Rukh’s age, buying awards, and all.
Then in the middle of the show, Kapil Sharma approached Rekha in the audience to do a takeoff on Shatrughan Sinha, which she sportingly did. Shatrughan Sinha and Rekha have a history of not speaking to each other for many years. However, all of that is water under the bridge now.
Critics’ Award winner Shahid Kapoor expressed huge admiration for Manoj Bajpai who shared the award with him. Shahid and Manoj won awards for playing non-conformists in Udta Punjab and Aligarh, respectively.
Last but not the least, notable absentees were Arijit Singh and Aamir Khan. It seems like Arijit does not attend these award shows, after his run-in with Salman Khan at an awards function in 2014. As for Aamir, frantic feelers were sent to the Dangal winner to get him to the function.
