The 54.7km four-lane Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway, Bangladesh’s first expressway that opened to the public in March last year, has brought down travel time between Dhaka and Faridpur by several hours and improved connectivity between the capital and the southern districts. The project, which cost about Tk 11,000 crore, is part of the Asian Highway 1 (AH1), connecting Dhaka and Kolkata through the Benapole border.
