Entrepreneurs hire herdsmen from Munshiganj to maintain and rear their drove of pigs, who then lead a nomadic life in the process. The farmers set out for different destinations across the country for eight months in a year, forming a bond with the four-legged animals, yet not gaining ownership to them. The owner provides them with tents, clothing, utensils and other essentials, while each farmer is paid Tk 7,000 a month on average. This round-the-year movement makes it difficult for the farmers to fix a timeframe for heading back home.
