BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said that while everyone has the right to form a political party and participate in elections, BNP objects to any special group forming a party with the intent of seizing power through unconventional means.
He made these remarks on Monday during a citizens' assembly organized by the "Save the Country, Save the People Movement" in front of the National Press Club.
He said that everyone knows there is no alternative to elections for the progression of democracy.
Shamsuzzaman Dudu said: "A conspiracy is brewing in the country. To save the nation from this conspiracy, we must be more vigilant."
He added: "The market situation is not good. Looking at the state of law and order in the country, it feels like there is no government. The nation is heading towards anarchy. The government needs to act strongly to control these issues."
He further said: "If BNP comes to power, it can establish democracy in the country. BNP can dismantle market syndicates and make essential goods affordable for the people. BNP can also protect Bangladesh's independence and sovereignty. The party knows how to stand by the poor. History has shown this, and under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, it will be evident in the future."
The former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal said: "Not a single person in Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's family is good. This family has destroyed the dignity of Bengalis, the nation's honor, and the values of the Liberation War. There isn’t a single sector they haven’t stolen money from. This family has pushed Bangladesh towards destruction."
Addressing the chief adviser, he said: "This family must be brought under justice as soon as possible. After Sheikh Rehana's daughter Tulip became a Member of Parliament in the UK, there were grand celebrations. Now it appears she too is among these thieves."
Speaking to the interim government, Shamsuzzaman Dudu added: "Sheikh Hasina knows very well what happens when BNP takes to the streets. Therefore, it would be wise to ensure a fair election and pave the way for BNP to enter the parliament."
