Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Monday urged Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah, two key coordinators of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, to apologize to the party’s President Colonel (rtd) Oli Ahmed.

“Those coordinators who are unaware of the contributions of Oli Ahmed and the LDP to the anti-authoritarian movement against Sheikh Hasina cannot be considered knowledgeable or politically aware individuals.”

This was mentioned in a statement signed by the party’s Joint Secretary Salahuddin Razzaq on Monday.

The statement noted that during the anti-discrimination movement, four LDP leaders were killed in the capital, four were injured, and 15 were shot.

In the statement, Salahuddin said: “It is regrettable that a writ has been filed in the High Court by the coordinators to ban the political activities of the LDP, a party that has played a significant role in the anti-Hasina movement over the past 16 years, and to prevent it from participating in future elections.”

“We strongly condemn and protest against this.”

On Monday morning (October 28), coordinators Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah filed a writ seeking to declare the activities of 11 political parties illegal.

Salahuddin Razzaq urged, “I request that Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah immediately apologize to Oli Ahmed. I also call for the withdrawal of LDP’s name from the writ filed in the High Court.”
