The Bangladesh Nizam-e-Islam Party has submitted its views on the proposed reforms to the National Consensus Commission.
On Monday, a delegation led by Maulana Abu Taher Khan, the party's organization secretary, handed over their proposal regarding the reform to Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, a member of the commission, at the commission's office in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Parliament Building, according to a press release by the National Consensus Commission.
The National Consensus Commission was formed with the aim of building national consensus on reform, chaired by the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Dr Muhammad Yunus. The commission's activities began on February 15.
It is noteworthy that, as part of the first phase of the reform commissions, reports on key recommendations were prepared by the Constitutional Reform Commission, the Public Administration Reform Commission, the Election Reform Commission, the Judiciary Reform Commission, and the ACC Reform Commission.
These reports included significant suggestions for political parties to provide their views on, which were sent to 38 political parties in a spreadsheet format, requesting their feedback by March 13.
So far, the commission has received responses from 21 political parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP).
To finalize the recommendations made by the reform commissions, the National Consensus Commission began formal discussions on March 20.
So far, the commission has held talks with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Khelafat Majlish, Bangladesh Labour Party, and the State Reform Movement. Discussions with other political parties are expected to continue after Eid.
