Three, including woman, injured in Gandaria shooting

The injured were rescued and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment

Three people, including a woman, were injured in a shooting allegedly carried out by criminals in the Swamibagh Munshirteq area of Gandaria in the capital on Sunday evening.

The incident took place at around 7:15pm. The injured were rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors admitted them for treatment.

Gandaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman Khan told Dhaka Tribune at around 10:45pm that a shooting had taken place and two people had sustained gunshot wounds. Police also recovered spent bullet casings from the scene.

The injured were identified as pedestrian Asha Akter, 20, tea-stall owner Alamgir, 33, and pedestrian Siam, 18.

According to the injured, they were present in the area as pedestrians and local businesspeople when the shooting occurred.

Mohammad Faruk, inspector and in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp, confirmed the incident and said the 3 gunshot victims were receiving treatment in the hospital's emergency department.

He said Siam sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest, Alamgir was shot in the head, and Asha suffered a gunshot wound to her right leg.

The matter has been reported to the relevant police station. Police are investigating the scene, and legal proceedings are underway.
