Dr Colonel (Retd) Oli Ahmed, President of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), said that the Awami League is a cursed party responsible for the deaths of thousands.
He said: "The Awami League has killed thousands of people and injured 30,000. If you do not ban the Awami League, then whom will you ban? How many more bodies must fall before you take action against them?"
"The Jatiya Party is also a collaborator. There are several other collaborators who entered the elections for cars and houses," he added.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a seminar titled “New Bangladesh: National Unity and Solidarity Post-Revolution,” organized by the Professor K Ali Foundation at the Abdul Salam Hall of the National Press Club on Saturday.
Oli Ahmed urged the interim government, saying: "Allah may forgive, but He does not overlook. You have been given many opportunities. It has been two and a half months, yet you have not shown anything tangible."
He added: "The BNP and Jamaat must forget all divisions and work for the 180 million people of the country. We need to build national unity. We must protect our country and its resources."
He further said that Hasina’s Awami League associates still exists and that the government should have prioritized dismissing them first and sending them to jail based on investigations. "However, our advisers are collaborating with them," Oli Ahmed said.
He emphasized that India would not turn its back on Bangladesh for even a minute due to the country's geographical fertility. "On the other hand, our enemies do not want everyone in Bangladesh to be united," he added.
