LDP Chairman and 11-party alliance presidential candidate Dr Col (retd) Oli Ahmed on Thursday congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as the 23rd president of Bangladesh.
In a congratulatory message, Oli expressed hope that the newly elected president would uphold the Constitution and discharge his responsibilities with firmness and competence, while safeguarding the country’s independence, democracy and justice.
He also wished Mirza Fakhrul good health and long life.
The statement was signed by Dr AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, former MP, coordinator of the 11-party alliance and assistant secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
