Jatiya Party Chairman's Advisor and President of Gazipur Metropolitan Committee MM Niaz Uddin, a former health secretary, has resigned from the party.

He submitted his resignation letter to the JaPa chairman on Sunday.

In the resignation letter he said: "I am not able to fulfill my responsibilities and do politics at this moment due to family and personal reasons. In this situation, I have resigned from all the party positions including as advisor to the chairman, and president of Gazipur metropolitan.”

MM Niaz Uddin contested as a mayoral candidate in the last Gazipur city election and lost his security deposit.

In the 12th national elections held on January 7, he was set to contest as the Jatiya Party candidate with the Plough symbol from Gazipur-1 (part of Kaliakair and Gasik) and Gazipur-5 (part of Kaliganj and Gasik) constituencies. However, he withdrew his candidacy a few days before the election.

MM Niaz Uddin told reporters that he will not be associated with any political party but he will continue his social work in Gazipur, especially encouraging youths to read books.
