Jessore police to rehabilitate drug addicts

The Jessore law enforcement authority has taken up steps to rehabilitate drug addicts and traders across the district. Additional Superintended of Police Md Salauddin Sikder said in a recent drive police had arrested 9,000 drug addicts and traders in several areas. More than 866 drug peddlers surrendered to the home minister in the district, he also said. The police department experienced that the drug addicts are misguided and the peddlers are very poor. If they are given opportunity, they can be rehabilitated and do good for the society. For drug peddlers, an alternative income source should be created. For this, the police department has taken up steps to raise a fund of Tk12 lakh. People of all walks of life, specially the media men, who have different jobs or positions in society, should come forward to make it happen,  added the ASP.
