The administration of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) has banned all forms of political activities on campus, including those involving teachers and students.

The university administration has stated that anyone violating this order will face disciplinary action in accordance with relevant regulations.

This announcement was made in two separate office orders issued on Saturday, and signed by the acting Registrar, Arif Ahmed Chowdhury.

According to the orders, the decision was made during the 105th emergency syndicate meeting of the university held on Saturday.

Under sections 44(4) and 44(5) of the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology Act 2003, no teacher, officer, or staff member of the university is allowed to be involved with any political organization.

Violators of this order will be subject to punishment as per the university’s regulations.

Another office order stated that all students are strictly prohibited from being involved with any political organization or its affiliated activities.

Violations of this order will also result in disciplinary action as per university rules.

Attempts to reach Vice-Chancellor Professor Jahangir Alam, acting Registrar Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, and Deputy Registrar of the Academic Section, Dilip Kumar Ghosh, for comments on the orders were unsuccessful.

Earlier, on Saturday afternoon, students of Ruet had submitted a letter to the vice-chancellor, demanding the prohibition of all forms of political activities on campus, along with 12 other demands.

The university administration's decision was made in response to these demands.
