Police have detained one of the main accused in the recent murder of a supporter of an independent candidate of the Madaripur-3 constituency from Gazipur.
The detainee has been identified as Billal Kha, 35.
Madaripur Superintendent of Police Masud Alam confirmed the matter on Monday afternoon.
He said police are trying to detain the other accused involved in the murder.
The other accused are Khalil Kha, Didar Kha, Shakil Kha, Deen Islam, Yunus Kha and his son Nazmul Kha, Anes Kha and his son Masud Kha, Akram Kha, Aynal Sardar, son of Jonab Ali Sardar, Faruk Kha, and Mohiuddin Molla. They are still absconding.
Eskandar Kha, 40, was a supporter of independent candidate Tahmina Siddique.
He was stabbed to death allegedly by the supporters of an Awami League candidate at Laksmipur in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district on Saturday.
The supporters of Awami League candidate Abdus Sobhan Golap called Eskandar out of his house in the morning and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him injured.
He was taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital where he breathed his last around 12:30am.
