Five students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) have been suspended on charge of ragging fellow students of the university.
Sust proctor Kamruzzaman Chowdhury confirmed the matter on Wednesday evening. However, the names of the expelled students were not known.
Dr Kamruzzaman Chowdhury said: "Five students of the business administration department have been temporarily expelled following a complaint of a student. An investigation committee has been formed to take further action to probe into the matter.”
Dean of the Faculty of Management and Business Administration Khairul Islam has been made the convener of the committee.
Quoting the student, the proctor said: "On Monday night, some students of the business administration department faced ragging by some students of the same department at Syed Mujtaba Ali Hall. One of the victim initially identified five people and filed a complaint”.
In this regard, the convener of the investigation committee, Prof Md Khairul Islam said, following the complaint of ragging, the victim has been called. The primary evidence of the involvement of 5 students leading the ragging was obtained from him.
