Five forest guards along with other forest staff were confined inside their office for almost 24 hours as three Royal Bengal Tigers were sighted roaming around Chandeshwar area of Supati station in Sarankhola range of Sundarban East Forest Division.
Despite repeated attempts to scare off the tigers, the forest officials were forced to monitor the movement of the tiger from a secured position.
Forest Ranger Sufal Roy of Sarankhola Range said at first two tigers were seen around the Supati Station on Friday afternoon. They were roaming around a pond when another one came.

At that time, five forest guards were inside the station. At first, they tried to scare off the tigers by making loud noises.
However, the tigers continued to roam around the forest office, forcing the forest staff to be confined inside their office.
On Saturday morning, the forest officials noticed that the tigers left the area.
Sufal Roy said: “November to April is the mating season for tigers. At this time, the tigers look for a safe place. That is why the office guards did not fire any blanks shots.”

Following the incident, locals in the forest office area are in fear.
Sharankhola Range Officer Md Samsul Arefin said: “This is the breeding season for tigers. So, the tigers with their companions are roaming on their own. Forest guards have been instructed not to harm them.”
