The prime minister has congratulated the Bangladesh national cricket team, popularly known as the Tigers, for securing their first-ever Test victory against Pakistan on home soil.
According to Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony, the message of appreciation was conveyed on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and shared with BSS.
Bangladesh registered a 104-run win in the opening Test of the two-match series against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday. This marks a historic milestone, as it is the team’s first Test victory against Pakistan in Bangladesh, following earlier successes in Pakistan, and their third consecutive Test win against the side.
In the Mirpur Test, Bangladesh set a target of 268 runs. Pakistan were bowled out for 163 in response.
