Police have shown six people arrested in a case filed over the murder of three people in an attack allegedly over making a comment on a Facebook post in Kapasia Upazila of Gazipur late on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Faruk Mia, 25, Robin Mia, 20, and Naim Hossain, 17.

Jahangir Alam, a member of ward No 5 of the local union parishad, said Naim and his friends were attacked over a comment on a Facebook post of the wife of one Zahid.

Zahid ganged up against Naim and his gang, and at one point the groups started stabbing each other, leaving around eight people injured.

They were taken to Monohardi Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty pronounced Faruk and Naim dead.

Robin was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Alam, the father of one of the deceased Faruk, filed a case against 14 people at Kapasia police station.

AFM Nasim, the officer-in-charge at the station, confirmed the matter.

On Saturday, local people detained the six persons and turned them over to the police.

Two of the detainees were undergoing treatment at Kapasia Upazila Health Complex, said Jahangir Alam.
