A lawyer was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act in Faridpur on Thursday.
He was arrested from the Court Par area of Bhanga Upazila around 8pm, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Sumon Khan of Bhanga police station.
The arrestee is Shah Newaz Hasan, 38, a former member of the convening committee of Bhanga municipal unit Krishak League. He resides in Sonakhola Moholla of Bhanga.
He is a supporter of Awami League Presidium member and former lawmaker Kazi Zafarullah.
Mehedi Parvez, 45, of Bhanga Court Para area filed the case against Shah Newaz and some unnamed persons. He is a follower of Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon, the lawmaker from Faridpur 4 constituency.
According to the statement, an online portal, AB News, recently published a satirical video of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's youngest daughter Sheikh Rehana and Nixon. Shah Nawaz shared the video on his Facebook profile.
Accused Shah Newaz would be produced in court on Friday, said police.
