The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) has pressed charges against Paris-based Bangladeshi writer and activist Pinaki Bhattacharya in a case filed under the Digital Security Act with Ramna police station.

CTTC Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Rahat Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to a Dhaka court on March 7, but the information was revealed on Sunday.

The investigation officer said the case has now been transferred to Dhaka's Cyber Tribunal for trial.

As Pinaki Bhattacharya is absconding, a request was also filed to issue an arrest warrant against him.

Sub-Inspector (SI) KM Abdullah Maruf of CTTC filed the case against Pinaki and two others, including a Bangladesh Chhatra Dal leader, with Ramna police station on October 15, 2022.

The two other accused in the case are Mofizur Rahman Ashik and Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari.

According to the case statement, Mofizur contacted different people on his Facebook messenger. Pinaki and Mushfiqul were contacted during that time.

Mofizur posted a status on his fake Facebook profile about a raid by police in Dhaka's Mirpur area. Pinaki also received the post on his Facebook messenger from Mofizur.
