A Dhaka court on Sunday extended the bail period of Prothom Alo journalist Samsuzzaman Shams in a case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA) over publishing a report on March 26.
The bail period has been extended till September 25.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mehedi Hasan passed the order.
On April 3, Shams was granted bail on a Tk20,000 bond.
On March 29, Shams, working in Savar near the capital Dhaka, was picked up from his house in the Ambagan area near Jahangirnagar University by the CID for allegedly publishing fake and fabricated news.
He was sued under the DSA on the same day and a Dhaka court sent him to jail.
