The overall flood situation has deteriorated in Netrokona district during the last 24 hours following heavy downpour and on rush of hilly water from the upstream.
The District Administration told BSS on Sunday that a total of 3,96,570 people under 10 upazilas of the district have been affected by the flood.

Of them, 1,06,698 people — 44,220 female, 16,088 children and 763 disabled people — of the flood-hit areas have already been taken to 324 flood shelters in different educational institutions of the district.
Apart from this, a total of 14,000 cattle heads have been taken to the flood shelters along with the people.
In response to the call of District Administration, two platoons of Bangladesh Army have started the rescue operations in Khaliajury upazila to evacuate the marooned people from the flood hit areas, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona Anjana Khan Majlis told BSS.
Meanwhile, the district administration has already allocated 158 tonnes of rice, 2,450 packets of dry foods and cash money amounting of Tk5.50 lakh for the upazila administrations to distribute those among the flood affected people of the district, the DC added.
