The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No 3 as a low pressure has formed over the northwest bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The low pressure area over northwest bay and adjoining coastal areas persist, said a Met office bulletin on Sunday.

Under its influence, deep convection is happening and a steep pressure gradient lies over the north bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it said.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay, added the bulletin.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the north bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

According to the regular bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions and at a few places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country.

The day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
