A police official was terminated from his job in connection with the suicide of a 16-year-old boy after a police raid.
The terminated police official was identified as Helal Uddin. He was working as a Sub-Inspector of Double Mooring police station under Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).
Confirming the matter, the CMP Deputy Commissioner Faruk Ul Huq said that a three-member probe body of CMP found Sub Inspector Helal Uddin responsible for the teenager’s suicide.
The errant police official was suspended as per recommendation of the probe body.
In a departmental investigation he was found guilty and was later terminated from his job on Tuesday.
The tenth-grader committed suicide after his mother and two sisters sustained injuries during a scuffle with the police when they tried to detain him without reason.
The deceased was identified as Salman Islam Maruf, a tenth grader of a local high school.
The incident took place in the city’s Badamtali Boro Masjid area under Double Mooring police station on July 16.
