Covid-19 cases cross 19,000-mark in Chittagong

Warning people of a possible second wave of coronavirus in the country, the Chittagong civil surgeon asked people to abide by health regulations

The number of Covid-19 cases in Chittagong has crossed the 19,000-mark on Saturday.

According to the information provided by Chittagong Civil Surgeon office, a total of 107,413 samples have been tested while 19,006 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Of the infected, 13,662 people hail from metropolitan areas while the remaining 5,344 people are from different upazilas of Chittagong.

The overall positivity rate so far stands at 17.69%.

As of Saturday, 15,406 people have recovered from the deadly disease.

Of them, 3,130 people recovered while undergoing treatment at different hospitals, while 12,276 people recovered in home isolation.

The recovery rate so far stands at 81%.

As many as 294 people have succumbed to the deadly viral disease.

The overall mortality rate in Chittagong currently stands at 1.54%.

Currently, 142 patients are undergoing treatment in the isolation beds of different state-run hospitals of Chittagong.

A total of 700 people are now in home quarantine.

On April 3, Chittagong recorded the first case of Covid-19.

On June 2, Chittagong exceeded 3,000 novel coronavirus cases.

On June 19, Chittagong crossed the 6,000-mark of Covid-19 cases.

On June 29, the number of coronavirus infections crossed the 8,000-mark in Chittagong.

On July 6, Chittagong crossed 10,000 Covid-19 cases.

On July 16, the number of Covid-19 cases crossed the 12,000-mark.

Warning people of a possible second wave of coronavirus in the country, Chittagong Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said people should abide by all the health regulations and social distancing.
