Four bogies of a passenger train have derailed on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route, causing the train service to be snapped for about an hour and a half.

The incident took place in front of Bose Cabin in Sanatan Pal Lane area of Narayanganj city's no 2 railgate around 12:30pm on Thursday.

According to eyewitnesses, the Narayanganj-bound train made a loud noise and halted in front of Bose Cabin, a famous food joint.

Narayanganj Station Master Golam Mostafa said: “The train left Dhaka at 11:45 am on Thursday. Four of its bogies got derailed when it reached Sanatan Pal Lane area.

“Although there were no casualties, the Dhaka-Narayanganj route is currently closed.”

The train was scheduled to leave Narayanganj for Dhaka again at 12:50pm. The next trains were scheduled to leave Narayanganj at 2:25pm and 4pm, he added.

Regarding the resumption of train services, the station master said that a rescue team has been contacted in Dhaka.

“Once the bogies are placed on the line and the line gets fixed, the train will start moving. However, it still cannot be said how much time is required to resume the train service,” he added.
