Four coaches of the Chilahati Express derailed in Gazipur's Salna area on the Dhaka-Tangail route on Sunday, leading to the suspension of train services to the northern region.
However, after detaching the derailed coaches, the Dhaka-bound intercity Chilahati Express entered Joydebpur Junction at 3:51pm.
The derailment occurred at around 2:30pm.
Joydebpur Railway Junction Station Master Abul Khayer Chowdhury confirmed the information.
At 4pm, he further said that a relief train sent from Kamalapur Station to recover the derailed coaches had already crossed Tejgaon Station.
The Chilahati Express, which had departed from Chilahati Station in the Nilphamari heading toward Dhaka, derailed near the Salna Bridge in the Gazipur Metropolitan area around 2:30pm when four of its coaches went off the track.
As a result, all train services to the northern region via the Jamuna Bridge on the Dhaka-Tangail route have been suspended.
Senior authorities have been informed.
Once the relief train from Dhaka recovers the four derailed coaches, train operations with the northern region are expected to return to normal.
