Maritime ports asked to hoist signal 3

'The low-pressure zone over the East-Central Bay and adjoining areas has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure zone over the same areas'

Update : 15 Aug 2020, 05:38 PM

The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3, as a steep pressure gradient persists under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure zone over the North Bay and adjoining areas.

“The low-pressure zone over the East-Central Bay and adjoining areas has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure zone over the same areas. It is likely to intensify further,” said a Met Office weather bulletin on Saturday.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
