Three people have died with Covid-19 symptoms at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMC) in a single night.
All of them were under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Among the three deceased, one is Ahmed Courier Service’s owner Nabuat Ali, 50.
He was a resident of Alupotti area of Rajshahi sadar.
The other two were Matiur Rahman, 56, of Nababpara area under Shahmakhdum police station and Mohammad Sentu, 48, of Manigram area of Bagha upazila of the district.
All three of them died between 10pm to 11pm on Sunday.
Dr Saiful Ferdous, deputy director of RMC, confirmed the matter and said that all three of them had Covid-19 symptoms, but they died before they could be tested.
He also said that their samples were collected after their death, and the results will reveal if they were infected with coronavirus or not.
Until Monday morning 44 people have died with coronavirus infection or symptoms of infection at RMC. Of them, only eight tested positive for Covid-19, the rest 36 died with Covid-19 symptoms while undergoing treatment at RMC.
Most of the deceased were men over 50. They were residents of Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Pabna, Natore, and Naogaon districts.
To protect the health of other patients in the hospital, the hospital authorities are ensuring medical services by keeping the patients with corona infection or symptoms of Covid-19 in separate wards, confirmed RMC Hospital Deputy Director Saiful Ferdous.
A total of 17 patients are currently admitted with coronavirus infection at RMC and the Christian Mission Hospital till Monday morning.
One of them is undergoing treatment at the ICU of RMC, 12 people are receiving treatment at the coronavirus ward number 29, and four people are receiving treatment at the Christian Mission Hospital.
