Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) is set to start testing for the new coronavirus (Covid-19) using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine on April 11.
The test kits have already reached the hospital, said Dr Shahnaz Parvin, head of Microbiology department at KMCH, UNB reports.
She said: "We will start testing for coronavirus using PCR machine next Saturday. This week we will receive the required training on how to use the machine."
According to KMCH, a PCR machine provided by the health department has been set up at the microbiology department on third floor of the hospital.
Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus can come to the hospital for the test free of cost.
Later, only coronavirus positive patients will be admitted to the isolation ward of Khulna Diabetic Hospital that was prepared for coronavirus patients.
Meanwhile, the government has announced the death of two more coronavirus patients in the country. So far, Bangladesh has confirmed 70 cases and eight deaths.
Covid-19, first reported in China, has so far infected 1,127,528 people globally and killed 59,949 of them, according to worldometer.
