A mobile court sentenced five madrasa teachers to two years in prison for supplying Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) answers during Dakhil–equivalent to Secondary School Certificate–examination at an exam centre in Ashuganj upazila, Brahmanbaria on Monday.
Two teachers, ABM Siddikur Rahman and Md Abdur Rouf, in-charge of maintaining exam regulations at the Ashuganj Sar Karkhana School examination centre, were also relieved of their duties, according to Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Najimul Haider.
The convicts, Md Mazharul Islam, Md Shafiqul Islam, Md Mohiuddin, Kabir Hossain and Abbas Ali are all teachers of different madrasas.
Mobile court sources said the five accused entered the examination hall despite not having any reason being there. The UNO and the Upazila Secondary Education Officer, Abul Hossain, visited the exam centre while the exam was going on and caught the accused red-handed as they were supplying answer sheets to the examinees. The accused teachers were also fined Tk10,000 each.
