Police has found a “suicide note” from Sylhet Gas Fields MD Lutfur Rahman’s house.
Jaintiapur police station OC Mainul Jakir on Thursday, said: "The note was found from the same room of his residence where Lutfur was found in a hanging state."
OC Mainul said: “In the letter, Lutfur did not mention any reason for his 'suicide' nor held anybody responsible for his death. It was addressed to the his mother, wife and children. The letter further mentioned of his property and its distribution. He also had expressed his love for his wife.”
The note read: "Ma, I love you a lot. You have tolerated a lot. I have failed to provide you the care you should have received. Yet, I believe you love me. You are the best mother on this earth. Please, forgive me."
Lutfur mentioned about a four acre land owned by him, and also the names of two of his friends, of whom he had asked help in proper distribution of his property and requested that his mother and children get their fair share. He also requested his brothers and sisters to look after his children.
The note was written in English and was found inside a notebook.
“The entire note was about his family, relatives, and friends,” the OC added.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Lutfur’s body was recovered from his residence on the Gas Field’s premises around 10am.
Sylhet Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Media Officer Md Mahbubul Alam confirmed the matter.
"This is a high-profile case and is being investigated," he added.
People concerned with Sylhet Gas Fields said Lutfur Rahman used to go to his office at around 9am every day. When he did not arrive by 10am on Wednesday, other officials went to his residence to check on him and found his body hanging from the ceiling. Upon receiving the information, senior police officials rushed to the spot.
Engineer Lutfur, 55, from Mymensingh, joined Sylhet Gas Fields Limited on April 8, 2018 as its managing director. He lived alone at his Gas Fields’ residence and his wife and two children live in Dhaka.
