The body of an intern doctor was recovered from the hostel of Comilla Medical College on Wednesday night.
Students of the hostel found his body hanging from a ceiling fan and informed the police.
The deceased was identified as Minhajul Karim Bhuiyan from Mirsharai, Chittagong. He was a student of batch 24 at the college.
According to the students, Minhajul was on night duty in Surgery-I Department on Wednesday but he did not come to the hospital. He could not be reached despite repeated calls on his mobile.
Later, Mudassir, a fellow intern doctor, was sent to his hostel where he found the door locked from the inside.
Later, Mudassir along with other intern doctors at the dormitory recovered Minhajul's body from his room.
In Minhajul's room, police found a suicide note that read: “No one is responsible for my death.”
His body has been kept in the morgue of Comilla Medical College Hospital, said Kotwali Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ahmed Sanjur Morshed.
Comilla Medical College lecturer Abu Nayeem said Minhajul may had mental health issues as he failed several exams.
“Apart from this, there may be family reasons behind his suicide,” he speculated.
