Power supply in two upazilas of Tangail has been shut down due to emergency maintenance and renovation works in a high-voltage power cable.
Electricity supply to Basail and Sakhipur upazilas was cut off at 8am on Saturday and will remain suspended till 4pm.
Confirming the matter, Basail Zonal Office Deputy General Manager (DGM) Shawkat Alam said: “Power supply will be suspended from 8am to 4pm on Saturday. However, the supply will be resumed if maintenance work is completed before the scheduled deadline.”
An urgent maintenance work in the 33,000 volts Tangail-Basail-Sakhipur power cable from the epicentre of Tangail grid is underway. Residents of the affected areas have been notified through public announcement, he added.
