The Adani Group has urged the current interim government of Bangladesh to expedite the payment of outstanding dues surpassing $800 million to Adani Power Ltd.

The company assured Bangladesh of uninterrupted power supply from its Godda power plant despite the dues.

Indian financial and business news outlet Money Control reported this on Friday.

It has been clarified that the electricity supply from India will not be halted due to the arrears.

According to a source from Adani Group, the company has requested the interim government of Bangladesh to settle the dues promptly.

Adani Group has informed Bangladesh that it is under pressure from its financiers to continue funding the construction of power plants.

Adani’s 1,600-megawatt Godda Power Plant in Jharkhand has a contract with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

Bangladesh is required to pay Adani Group between $90 and $100 million monthly for electricity supply.

All the power generated at the Godda Power Plant is directed to Bangladesh. The power plant began operations in June 2023, and electricity supply to Bangladesh commenced in the same month.
