Two children have been critically injured in a gas riser blast,in the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj.
The accident happened on Sunday afternoon.
The injured are Sifat Rahman, 12, son of Haque and his cousin Jobair Ahammad, 13, son of Alamgir Hossain.Sifat is a six grader in a local school and Jobair is a student of a local madrasa.
They were immediately taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Dr Partha Sankar Paul, resident surgeon, burn unit of DMCH said: “Both of them are in critical condition, 95% of Jobair’s body has been burnt while 90% of Sifat’s body has critical injuries.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Bacchu Miah of DMCH police outpost said: “The two children were immediately admitted to DMCH.”
“The accident took place beside thevictim’s three storied rented house at the North Madaninagar area.The concerned police station has already been informed about the matter,” said SI Bacchu.
Owner of the house Abul Hossain said: “They live on the second floor of the house with their parents.They were playing when the accident took place. Later the locals rushed them to the DMCH.”
