Police have recovered the pistol which was lost during a clash between the supporters of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy and Awami League MP Shamim Osman.
The pistol was recovered from a flowerpot in front of Sadhu Paul's church in Chashara area around 2am on Friday. The pistol was wrapped in a polythene.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narayanganj Sadar model police station Abdur Razzak said it was a 7.6mm pistol and was made in Italy.
However, the police officer did not disclose details regarding the recovery of the firearm.
"The gun has been kept at the police station. Niazul is yet to be arrested," the OC said adding that they are trying to arrest him.

MP Shamim Osman's supporter Niazul Niazul Islam Khan was seen holding a gun during the clash in Chashara on January 16.
He lost the gun when Mayor Ivy's supporters started beating him on the street.
