Covid-19 cases rise sharply for third day in a row
Daily infection rate climbed to 3.37%

Bangladesh has been witnessing a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases for the last three days with health authorities reporting 674 new infections in the latest 24-hour period.
With the detection of the new cases after testing 19,980 samples, the daily test positivity rate jumped to 3.37% from Sunday’s 2.91%, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest development, the total caseload stood at 1,587,140.
The total fatality rose to 28,081 with four more deaths during the same time. Dhaka recorded the most cases among the eight divisions, logging 568 infections.
Another 214 people recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,549,771.
The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.65% and the mortality rate at 1.77%.
The seven-day moving average of single-day deaths in Bangladesh was 2.85 on Monday.
