Health authorities on Monday reported the first Covid-19 death in 21 days, with the daily test positivity rate jumping to 10.87% in the 24 hours till 8am.
As many as 8,028 samples were tested across the country, and 873 new cases were reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 92 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours yielding a recovery rate at 97.38%.
Bangladesh last recorded a Covid-linked death on May 30.
On Sunday, the country recorded 596 cases with a daily positivity rate of 7.38%.
With the latest developments, the country’s total caseload stands at 1,957,200 while the total fatalities reached 29, 132.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49%.
In May, the country reported only four Covid-linked deaths and 816 new cases, while 7,356 patients recovered from the disease, according to the DGHS.
Among the four deaths during the period, one was vaccinated with single dose of Covid vaccine while three were vaccinated with two doses.
The country reported its first zero Covid death in a single day on November 20 last year, along with 178 cases, since the pandemic broke out here in March 2020.
On January 28, Bangladesh logged its previous highest positivity rate of 33.37%.
The country registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.
