Bangladesh ranks eighth among 200 countries of the world in Covid-19 vaccination, according to Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
“Around 75% of the country’s population has been brought under vaccination coverage,” the minister said during an event in Manikganj on Saturday.
The mortality rate from the virus was also comparatively lower in Bangladesh, said Maleque.
“Some 32,000 have died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh. In comparison, the disease has claimed around 500,000 lives in India and 1 million in the United States,” he added.
Bangladesh had recorded 29,105 Covid-19 deaths and 1,949,055 cases as of Friday morning, according to data aggregated by the health directorate.
