As of April 28, a total of 257,622,472 doses of Covid-19 vaccines including booster shots were administered across Bangladesh since the countrywide vaccination campaign started on February 7 last year.
"A total of 128,558,708 people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine till Monday while 116,369,855 received the second dose across the country," according to data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
As many as 12,693,909 people received the booster dose to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, it added.
A total of 33,210,881 students aged 12-17 years were vaccinated with first and second doses of vaccines. Of them, 17,320,024 students received the first dose while 15,890,857 were immunized with a second dose, the DGHS said.
In order to bring all eligible people under vaccination coverage, 217,863 floating people have so far received the second dose of Covid vaccines.
The government conducted a three-day countrywide mass vaccination campaign that began on February 26 this year.
As many as 11,174,725 people were immunized with the first dose on the first day of the campaign (February 26), 1,933,775 on the second day (February 27), and 156,944 people received the first dose on the last day of the drive (February 28), the DGHS said.
To date, Bangladesh received nearly 300 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. Either the country got the vaccine doses under Covax facilities or through purchase.
