Covid: Zero deaths, 19 new cases reported in a day

Bangladesh reported zero deaths from the coronavirus on Tuesday, with 19 new cases logged in the 24 hours to 8am.

According to the latest figures released by the health directorate, the overall caseload in the country now stands at 1,952,602 while fatalities stand at 29,127.

A total of 5,026 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.38%.

Another 364 people recovered from Covid-19 across the country taking the total number of recoveries to 1,894,123.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.01% and the mortality rate at 1.49%.

The total global caseload mounted to 510,034,044 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,220,164 on Tuesday morning, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The United States (US) has recorded 81,042,367 cases so far and 991,572 people have died from the virus in the country, the university data shows.

India's Covid-19 case tally rose to 43,062,097 on Monday after 2,541 new cases were registered in 24 hours across the South Asian country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

This is the sixth consecutive day when the number of daily new cases surpassed the 2,000-mark after lower tallies had been reported in recent weeks.

Besides, 30 deaths due to the pandemic recorded since Sunday morning took the death toll to 522,193.
