Country records zero Covid deaths for fourth straight day

Test positivity rate recorded at 0.58%

Bangladesh reported zero deaths from Covid-19 for the fourth straight day on Sunday.

The country also logged 43 fresh infections in the 24 hours till 8am.

The positivity rate was recorded at 0.58% with 7,994 samples tested across the country, according to a bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

On Saturday, the country recorded 65 Covid cases with zero deaths.

Dhaka remained at the top with the highest number of new cases -- 33 -- in the 24 hours till 8am.

The latest additions took the country's total caseload to 1,951,282 and the death toll to 29,118.

A total of 673 people recovered from Covid during the same period taking the total recovery to 1,877,804.

On March 15 this year, the country logged zero deaths from coronavirus after more than three months.

On December 9 last year, Bangladesh logged zero Covid-related deaths after nearly three weeks as the pandemic was apparently showing signs of easing.

The country reported the first zero death from the coronavirus in a single day on November 20 last year along with 178 infections since the pandemic broke out in Bangladesh in March 2020.

Besides, the country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.
