Bangladesh logs zero Covid deaths for third day in a row

65 infections reported in a day for a positivity rate of 0.89%

No coronavirus deaths have been reported on Friday, for the third consecutive day as the health authorities record 65 new cases in the 24 hours to 8am.

According to latest figures released by the health directorate, the overall caseload in Bangladesh now stands at 1,951,239 while fatalities at 29,118.

A total of 7,336 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.89%.

Nationwide another 983 people recovered from Covid-19 taking the total recovery to 1,877,131.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 96.2% and the mortality rate at 1.49%.

Globally, over 479 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 6.14 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
