Covid: 2,000 people inoculated in Chittagong without registration

Upazila healthcare worker runs unauthorized vaccination campaign

A staffer of an upazila health complex in Chittagong has reportedly administered Covid-19 vaccines to as many as 2,000 unregistered citizens without any authorization.  

Rabiul Hossain, a medical technologist at the Patiya Upazila Health Complex, allegedly carried out unauthorized inoculation programs at two educational institutes at the upazila on July 30 and 31.  

Pataya Upazila Health Sabyasachi Nath said that Rabiul carried out the vaccination campaign in violation of his instructions.

The Chittagong Divisional Health Department has opened an inquiry into the matters, said Director Hasan Shahriar. 

A three-member probe committee has been told to submit their findings within two working days. 

Chittagong Fazle Rabbi said that disciplinary actions will be taken against Rabiul after the report is filed.

Rabiul did not answer his phone despite several attempts to reach him for a comment.
