Square Hospital ICU chief Mirza Nazim dies of Covid-19 infection

The internal medicine specialist was being treated at the hospital for almost a month

An internal medicine specialist, who headed the intensive care unit of the Square Hospital in Dhaka, has died after being infected with Covid-19.  

Mirza Nazim Uddin died on Sunday while being treated at the hospital on Sunday. 

“Dr Mirza Nazim died at 4 pm at ICU of Square Hospital. He was undergoing treatment for a month,” said Square Hospital Association Director (Medical Services) Wahiuddin Mahmud.

Mirza Nazim was also one of the directors of the hospital, he said.

The 67-year-old is survived by his wife and three children.

A former student of the Dhaka Medical College, Mirza Nazim was a lifetime member of the Bangladesh Medical association (BMA).

BMA President Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Secretary General Md Ihteshamul Haque Chowdhury expressed condolences over his death.

According to the BMA, Mirza Nazim is the 18th doctor in Bangladesh to die of Covid-19.
