Ten including three policemen tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Sirajganj on Thursday.
Six of the infected, including the police officers, are from Kazipur upazila. Kazipur police station was put under lock down after test reports arrived on Thursday evening, according to sources at the district civil surgeon office and the upazila administration.
The infected policemen and their coworkers were kept in quarantine at the police station, said Kazipur police station OC AKM Lutfor Rahman.
Kazipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zahid Hasan Siddiqui said the district deputy commissioner was notified to arrange deployment of additional reinforcements in the upazila.
One of the infected tested positive in Dhaka and had been in quarantine there, from where he fled to Kazipur upazila, said sources.
Sixteen people have till now tested positive for the coronavirus in Sirajganj.
