Coronavirus: 554 doctors infected across Bangladesh

Among the total infected physicians, 398 are from Dhaka division alone, says BDF

The number doctors infected by coronavirus reached 554 on Sunday, said Bangladesh Doctors Foundation (BDF), a forum of physicians.

“Among the total infected physicians 398 are from Dhaka division alone. Of them, 238 are from government hospitals and 138 from private hospitals,” said Nirupam Das, the chief administrator of the foundation.

Of the total number of infected doctors, 363 are from government hospitals, 141 are affiliated with private hospitals and 53 physicians are shown in other category in the BDF data, reports UNB.

Meanwhile, 61 doctors were diagnosed with Covid-19 in Mymensingh division while 14 in Chittagong, 29 in Khulna, 10 in Barisal, six in Sylhet and eight in Rangpur division.

A total of 20 doctors have so far recovered, BDF said.

Dr Nirupam said doctors should be careful while disposing the personal safety gears to be safe from the virus.

As of Sunday, Bangladesh confirmed 9,455 coronavirus cases with the death toll rising to 177 after two new fatalities were reported.

The fast spreading Covid-19 has so far killed 245,000 people in more than 200 countries and territories.
