The first doctor from Kurmitola General Hospital has tested positive for coronavirus infection.
Bangladesh Doctors’ Foundation (BDF) confirmed the matter.
Dr Nirupam Das, chief administrator of BDF told the Dhaka Tribune: “The routine test samples were collected for testing two days ago. We got the test reports yesterday which revealed that he is Covid-19 positive, even though he was asymptomatic at that time.”
The infected physician’s age is between 30 and 35. He is being treated at Kurmitola General Hospital, Dr Das added.
“He is showing mild symptoms of Covid-19 now,” he further informed.
At least 324 doctors and 205 nurses have so far tested Covid-19 positive across the country, according to BDS.
In Bangladesh, 4,998 people have tested positive for coronavirus and there have been 140 recorded deaths from coronavirus infection so far.
The fast spreading Covid-19 has claimed more than 197,000 lives and infected over 2,845,000 globally, according to Worldometer.
