The world faces another momentous increment in coronavirus daily cases for two consecutive days since April 19.
According to Worldometers, a total of 79,956 new coronavirus cases in the world had been recorded on Wednesday, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases to 2,635,716.
The number is 4,702higher than that of the previous day, which was 75,254 and 6,060higher than the day before, which was 73,896.
A week ago, on April 16, the number of new cases worldwide was 90,254and a week before that on April 9, it was 85,674.
Till now, the number of active cases stands at 1,734,206.
Of the active cases 1,675,887(97%)were identified to be in mild condition while the rest 56,678(3%)have been marked as serious or critical.
At the same time, 722,039people from across the world have recovered fully from the infection or were discharged from treatment – which was 80% of cases which had an outcome.
The Covid-19 pandemic has claimed 184,248lives since its discovery in December 2019 – which was 20% of cases which had an outcome.
In January, China effectively shut down Wuhan and placed its 11 million residents in effective quarantine after the novel coronavirus infection turned into outbreak.
The virus is thought to have emerged late last year in a Wuhan market illegally trading wildlife. It can cause pneumonia, respiratory diseases, among others, and spreads between people in droplets from coughs and sneezes.
Till now, coronavirus or Covid-19 has affected 210 countries and territories the world and two international conveyances.
