4 more with Covid-19 symptoms die

Local administrations have placed Barguna and Panchagarh districts under lockdown

At least four people died with symptoms similar to those of Covid-19 in four districts yesterday, prompting health authorities to collect samples and sending them to nearby Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) labs to test for coronavirus.

In Tangail, a 70-year-old man suffering from respiratory problems and diarrhoea, died undergoing treatment at Madhupur Upazila Health Complex, said Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Robina Yasmin.

In Sylhet, a 35-year old man with cough, cold and fever died at the isolation unit of Saheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, said Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Sushanta Kumar Mohapatro.

In Gopalganj, a 55-year old man suffering from tuberculosis died at his home in Sadar upazila, said Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Assaduzzaman Haowlader.

In Rajshahi, a 19-year old man, suffering from fever, cough and cold, died undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

RMCH Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Azizul Haque Azad confirmed the matter.

Meanwhile, local administrations placed Barguna and Panchagarh districts under lockdown to limit the spread of the lethal Covid-19.
